About Tristen

I started Tristen’s Puppy Gym to provide up-to-date, science-based training to dogs of all ages and stages of learning, and to make it fun and enriching, rather than the boring and strict obedience or show type training that was all that was available.

When I first started training while working as a vet nurse, I saw a major gap in the way we train our dogs and what we expect from our dogs. I could see that the expectations of our dogs were increasing and changing from what they used to be; they’re now a full member of the family, not just a pet to please your kids occasionally and leave outside the rest of the time. And yet, I couldn’t see much change in the way we trained our dogs. Sure, overseas things were updating, but here in Australia, we’re still backward when it comes to our ideas and regulations on dogs. So, I sought to remedy this, starting in Bendigo.

I learned a lot about dog behaviour and researched and trained in the newest, most up-to-date styles of training that are about being force-free, enriching for the dog’s mental health, and building a relationship that is ongoing throughout your dog’s life. My services offer a range of different classes and options to suit all your dog’s needs and help to integrate them into your lifestyle and the expectations of society.

I am also here for you, the fur parents of Bendigo. I am a cheerful, realistic and outgoing person who wants to see you and your dog succeed and be happy and healthy in your relationship together. I honestly really love teaching people as well as dogs, so my courses provide so much information for you and your dog to have fun learning together!

I use behavioural knowledge and current training practices to help you provide a happy and enriching life for your fur baby and be confident in their abilities and wellbeing.
